I made this for Cherie [~Cap-a-Pie] for Christmas this year, because Misty [that's ~ThatBlueManiac in case ya didn't know], Cherie and I always make homemade presents for each other for birthdays and Christmas because we're all artists yay.
Gave it to her yesterday. It's hanging on her bedroom wall now. :3

I'm not entirely sure what it is... she said I could draw her whatever I wanted, though she liked "Victorian oddities, deep sea menagerie, detectives with dumb names, etc". And even though et cetera means 'and so on' I honestly didn't know what else would go in that category, so I started Googling things having to do with oceans and Victorian whatnot, eventually scrapped the Victorian bit and came up with this.

I think of it as being some explorer's compiliation of discoveries at some tropical island, or something.. Anyway, there's a painting of a coral reef, a sketch of an angelfish (a Queen Angelfish, anyway), a sketch of a bird skull (referenced from a photo of a secretary bird's skull, actually) and some rocks and feathers glued to it.

It was actually a lot harder to paint than I thought it'd be, as the canvas was already primed for acrylic or oil paints and was resistant to watercolors. But I got it to work anyway.

Also, the notes/words by the sketches don't actually say anything, except for the words "Queen Angelfish" above the fish drawing. One bit looks like it says "showers of any depth" though, lol.

Canvas is either 5x5 or 6x6 inches; I don't remember.
Made using colored pencils, watercolor paints, coffee, an HB pencil, old paper, craft feathers and random rocks, one of which may be mica. School and super glue were also used.
References used for skull and fish drawings.
